I know that it can be hard to follow some of the recommended intestinal dysbiosis diet guidelines. So I’ve decided to post some tips that have worked for me. What works for you may be different, but try these. They do help.
#1-Bacon and Eggs for Breakfast
This may be contrary to what you have learned about healthy eating, but eggs are very good for you. Cured meats such as bacon should be limited, but they are allowed on a dysbiosis diet because they do no feed the yeast. This delicious breakfast will make you forget about your favorite breakfast cereal. Add in a half of a grapefruit and you have a balanced meal.
#2-Go Nuts
Do you crave salty starchy snacks such as pretzels and potato chips? These carbohydrate rich foods are not allowed on this kind of diet because they feed the candida-gut dysbiosis is sure to follow.
But you can satisfy your salt cravings by snacking on some lightly salted nuts. Salt should generally be limited in your diet, but it’s not the focus of this program. Nuts are very satisfying and are loaded with vitamins and minerals. Cashews, almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds-these are all encouraged with the exception of peanuts as these have been shown to contain mold.
#3 Carbo-Fix With Berries
Though carbohydrates are limited on this kind of diet, certain fruits such as berries are encouraged. They are lower in sugar than most fruits, are loaded with fiber and nutrients, and are considered cleansing fruits. Sour fruits such as lemons, grapefruit, and Granny Smith apples are also recommended.
If you’re one of those people that get carbohydrate cravings then try this. Combine a bowel of blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries. This combination of all of the different colors will maximize the antioxidant benefits. Add a healthy fat source such as nuts, and you enhance the absorption even more.
#4-Treat Yourself to a Steak
As much as everybody loves potatoes and pasta, nothing beats a steak. Rewarding yourself with your favorite meats can take some of the sting out of it. This is not something you should do for the long run. But as most people only stay on this strict part of the diet for a couple of months, it’s ok. After that you can slowly start adding in some whole grains.
When you can, try to eat grass fed beef. It is lower in saturated fat and contains a healthier complex of fatty acids. Remember, cows evolved to eat grass, not grains.
#4-Cauliflower Mashed Potatos
This will blow your mind. Simply cook the cauliflower as you normally would then mash. Season it in the same way you would normal mashed potatos. Cauliflower contains a lot of water, so it takes a good amount. After seasoning, let it simmer uncovered so that it will reduce to the desired consistency.
#5-Learn To Stir-Fry
Since you can’t live off of just meat, you will have to replace that side of rice or noodles with vegetables. Stir-frying makes vegetables taste delicious. Buy a wok and experiment with some different oriental seasonings. Most of them are loaded with antioxidants. And remember, oils are ok on this dysbiosis diet.
#6-Visit Your Health Food Store
Ever since low carb diets became popular, health food stores have been carrying a large assortment of specialty, low carb foods. You will find some interesting alternatives to keep your meals from getting boring.
#7-The most Important Step
The most important step is to stay focused. You are in this for the long term benefits. This is not just a fad diet.
This is about your overall health, and certain things are best to be considered as lifestyle choices rather than a diet. You will not have to restrict carbs forever, but some changes should be permanent.
Avoid stress and don’t overwork your self, this can lead to compulsive eating. You may want to try out Yoga or meditation. Exercise is also a great way to stay focused. It releases endorphins into your brain that boost mood, and your willpower. The sense of satisfaction you get will also motivate you to keep making healthy choices. So good luck on your dysbiosis diet.
